\"Laundry on Demand\" Policy for Towels and Bedding<\/h3>

In line with our facility\u2019s commitment to a SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT, one of the most important aspects of sustainability is ensuring that OUR GUESTS also contribute to our facility\u2019s efforts to reduce energy, water, and chemical consumption\u2014and thereby lower environmental pollution levels\u2014as outlined in our Environmental Policies.\n

\nTo this end, perhaps the simplest and most effective way for our guests to support our environmental policies is by choosing when to have their towels and bed linens changed. For this purpose, we have established a \u201cWASH ON REQUEST\u201d POLICY for towels and bed linens.\n

\nIn Accordance with Our Policy\n
\n- Our priority is to provide our GUESTS staying at our facility with information about our policy in written, visual, and audio formats.
\n- All necessary training and information sessions should be conducted to communicate our facility\u2019s environmental policies, environmental philosophy, and sustainability principles to all staff.
\n- The bedding (duvet cover, pillowcase, sheet) and towels used by guests staying in the room are changed every two days, unless the guest requests otherwise.
\n- If a guest wishes to have their bedding and towels changed outside of this procedure, they should place the towel change card found in the room on the bed; the housekeeper will then replace all the linens in the room accordingly.
\n- Guests can also request a towel and sheet change by calling the front desk or the housekeeping number. This request is forwarded to the housekeeping supervisors and is handled immediately.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Water Conservation Measures<\/h3>

At Hotel Kum, the primary objective of our Waste Management System\u2014which encompasses processes such as reducing waste at the source, sorting it according to type, collecting, storing, recovering, transporting, and disposing of it, as well as post-disposal monitoring\u2014is to reduce the amount of waste generated, ensure that the waste we do generate is managed properly so that it is disposed of with minimal environmental impact, and recover any materials that can be recycled.
\nWe provide training sessions for our staff to educate them on the importance of waste sorting.
\nWe provide our guests with recycling bins to help them sort their waste in common areas and guest rooms.
\nWe provide information about our Waste Management System to both our guests and our staff, and we strive to encourage them to reduce the amount of waste they generate and to sort the waste they produce.\nAll collected recyclable packaging waste and organic waste is delivered to licensed companies, thereby contributing to recycling efforts.
\nFor room cleaning, concentrated products are selected and a dosing system is used.
\nThis way, we achieve more effective results with smaller doses and protect the environment by minimizing waste. To reduce our paper consumption, we conduct our correspondence and announcements via email whenever possible.
\nUpdates made to documents can be communicated through the software we use and our shared quality file.
\nRefillable shampoo has been chosen over single-use shampoo in the guest rooms.\nThe use of picnic-style items at the buffet has been reduced.
\nThe cutlery case has been replaced with eco-friendly packaging.
\nAn initiative has been launched to replace plastic slipper covers and laundry bags with cotton ones.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Energy-Saving Measures<\/h3>

Our Initiatives in the Field of Energy Conservation:\n
\n1. The hotel\u2019s building exterior lighting, heating, and cooling systems are controlled via automation.
\n2. The guest rooms are equipped with an Energy Saver card system.
\n3. Once guests take their room keys with them and leave the room, the lights turn off automatically.
\n4. Energy losses are minimized by performing periodic maintenance and cleaning of all electrical devices according to an annual schedule.
\n5. Where possible, automatic photoelectric doors are used to minimize energy consumption resulting from heat and cooling loss.
\n6. The placement of heating and cooling equipment is planned in a way that does not reduce energy efficiency.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t

Hazardous Waste Management<\/h3>

To ensure that hazardous waste generated at our facilities is disposed of without harming the environment, we transitioned to the Zero Waste system in 2020. We collect and label the hazardous waste generated in our departments under appropriate conditions in our hazardous waste storage areas and deliver it to licensed companies for disposal or recycling in accordance with the law.\n

\nUsed cooking oil generated at our facilities is collected in a waste oil storage tank, delivered to a company licensed by the relevant ministry, and properly disposed of. We track the ratio of the amount of waste oil recycled each year to the total amount of oil consumed, and we are working to increase this ratio (the waste oil ratio).\n

\nWe have identified the hazardous materials used at our facilities in terms of their environmental impact and have stepped up the necessary monitoring measures. We are monitoring our hazardous waste volumes. We take care to ensure that the materials we use do not contain hazardous substances whenever possible, and that any materials that do contain such substances are disposed of properly.\n

\nOur goal for 2024, as it is every year, is to ensure that all hazardous waste generated at our facilities is properly collected in designated hazardous waste storage areas without being mixed with other types of waste and then handed over to licensed companies, while also implementing measures to minimize the use of materials that generate hazardous waste.\n

\nUse of Chemicals\n
\nChemicals are substances that we use in many areas of our lives; they make our lives easier but can also lead to negative consequences due to their harmful effects. Chemicals are used in maintenance, repair, and cleaning activities at our facilities.\n

\nIt is our top priority to ensure that all chemicals we use are approved, labeled, and properly packaged, and that the SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) have been provided to us. The employees who will be using the chemicals are trained by the purchasing department on the use of the chemicals, the information contained in the SDSs, usage quantities and methods, personal protective equipment requirements, and the necessary precautions to be taken. We primarily purchase large-volume concentrated chemical substances, which are diluted using automatic dosing and refill systems to ensure more economical use.\n

\nOur chemical storage facilities have the necessary safeguards in place to prevent leaks, spills, and other incidents that could harm the environment.\nChemical storage is carried out in accordance with the type of chemical, the manufacturer\u2019s storage instructions, and applicable regulations.\nFormulas for chemical use are created, and per-person consumption is monitored frequently.
\nWe use automatic dosing systems in our pools that use the minimum amount of chemicals necessary to ensure proper hygiene.\n

\nWe ensure that the pesticides used by the pest control company we contract with are products that do not harm human health or the environment.\nWe strive to make greater use of natural measures (fly traps, sticky paper, housefly traps, etc.).\nWe take the necessary precautions for situations involving hazardous chemical waste, leaks, etc., and provide staff training on how to respond to spills, exposure, and other incidents. In our chemical storage facilities, we use leak-proof spill containment basins for chemical storage.\n

\nCarbon Emissions\n
\nWe source our purchases from nearby regions whenever possible. In this way, we aim to reduce our environmental impact by minimizing CO2 emissions from our suppliers\u2019 delivery vehicles.\n

\nCarbon emissions were calculated in kilograms of CO2 equivalent (kgCO2e) based on total energy consumption from electricity, coal, diesel, and LPG.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
